Sagres occupies the extreme southwestern corner of Portugal, where the Atlantic Ocean and Algarve coast meet in dramatic fashion. The cape sits at the confluence of north and south Atlantic swell windows, giving it some of the most consistent waves in Portugal year-round. Tonel beach is the main surf spot — a wide, powerful beach break best for intermediates and above. Mareta beach in town is more sheltered and beginner-friendly.
